From Dallas’s Red-Pants Tradition to K-Lifestyle at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson
2026.05.21
At THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, immersive technology, K-pop, food and lifestyle experiences transform the quiet pauses of golf into moments of discovery and entertainment In May, the Texas sun beats down relentlessly across the sprawling fairways of TPC Craig Ranch. Golf is, in many ways, a sport of silence. There is the breathless stillness as a player prepares for a shot, followed by the brief swell of reaction after the ball cuts through the air and lands on the green. Between those moments stretches a long expanse of open time. CJ does not allow the walk from hole to hole to remain mere waiting time. This year, before the dust stirred up by passing golf carts even has time to settle, THE CJ CUP quietly fills those in-between spaces with a captivating sense of fun. Those who step into the House of CJ tent to escape the midday heat find themselves, the moment they cross the threshold, transported into another world. Cool air greets them first. Then comes the expansive glow of SCREENX, wrapping their field of vision in a 270-degree panorama. The vast openness of the Texas plains seems to give way almost instantly to the dreamlike atmosphere inside the booth. Spectators with sunglasses perched on their heads walk almost spellbound into that 270-degree sweep of light and motion. It becomes a strange and beautiful kind of journey — from visitors lingering outside the screen to participants willingly stepping into the story unfolding within it. Inside this cool, immersive space powered by Korean technology, they experience the thrill of being surrounded on all sides by moving images. Alongside this visual immersion, Mnet Plus delivers the powerful pulse of K-pop. Spectators who moments earlier had been quietly following the golfers’ solitary play now stand with half-finished bottles of water in hand, their attention drawn toward the screen as if pulled by it.  In that moment, they seem to willingly surrender part of their weekend to the captivating world of K-pop. A quiet sport unfolds across green grass, while a dynamic pop culture phenomenon crosses borders and moves millions of hearts. With Mnet Plus serving as a deft digital bridge, two worlds that might have seemed unlikely to meet begin to overlap with surprising ease. That sense of fun deepens as it spreads playfully through the narrow passageways inside the tent. One visitor steps up to a gacha machine labeled “Grab Your Luck,” turning the lever with childlike anticipation. Nearby, others capture their memories at the TOUS les JOURS (TLJ) birthday-themed photo spot.  By afternoon, when the heat reaches its peak, visitors gather at Jari Bar for happy hour, enjoying the 30% discount while they take selfies with colorful drinks in hand and bright, refreshed smiles on their faces. The scene feels neither forced nor overly crowded. Bodies worn down by the fierce sun find relief in cooling K-beauty mask packs, while hunger is met with the warmth of mandu and dakgangjeong (soy-glazed fried chicken). The long stretches between shots are filled with the multisensory experiences of SCREENX and Mnet Plus, along with small but memorable surprises tucked throughout the space.  It all feels as natural as water soaking into dry ground after a long drought. As these experiences settle into the weekend rhythm of Texas families, they gradually stop feeling like something unfamiliar and instead become part of the atmosphere itself. Then, once again, a heavy silence settles over the course. A player prepares for a shot, and tens of thousands of eyes fix on a small white ball. Once the shot is complete and spectators begin moving toward the next hole, a subtle excitement lingers in their expressions. Into the long pauses of this sport of stillness, vivid and multidimensional forms of entertainment have quietly taken root, layer by layer. On a dazzling afternoon in May, an intricate and captivating vision of K-lifestyle spreads gracefully across the vast Texas fairways. ⛳ Catch Up on THE CJ CUP Stories DAY 0From Dallas’s Red-Pants Tradition to K-Lifestyle at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson DAY 1[THE CJ CUP ESSAY] From Korea to Texas: K-Food Shines at THE CJ CUP[THE CJ CUP MOMENT] One Rainy Afternoon, K-Food Found a Home in Texas DAY 2[THE CJ CUP ESSAY] Under the Texas Sun, K-Beauty Finds Its Place[THE CJ CUP MOMENT] On a Pin-Covered Lanyard, Dedication Becomes Heritage DAY 3[THE CJ CUP ESSAY] Playful Energy Finds Its Place in Golf’s Quiet Moments[THE CJ CUP MOMENT] Two Names, Side by Side on the Fairway
