CJ ENM’s October slate has arrived with fresh entertainment that’s ripened along with the season. First up, “100 Days of Deception” premieres on tvN on October 10. The series brings together director Yoo In-sik of the “Dr. Romantic” series, writer Ryu Bo-ri of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and a trusted cast, raising expectations for a standout new drama. “Love in Disguise,” a trope-flipping romantic comedy between a prickly third-generation chaebol heir and a bold heroine who disguises herself as a man, premieres on October 19. “Paradise Lost” hits theaters on October 21. Director Yeon Sang-ho’s latest film, following “Colony” earlier this year, is a psychological thriller that begins when a son believed to be dead seemingly returns to life as if by a miracle. Kim Hyun-joo and Bae Hyun-sung are also drawing attention for their on-screen transformations. The TVING original drama “Make Me Tingle” also arrives in October. Centered on the love-hate romance between the CEO of an adult products company and a marketer from a traditional Confucian family, the series pairs Nam Ji-hyun and Kim Jae-young in a fresh romantic dynamic that’s sparking viewers’ curiosity. Finally, the tvN history variety show “Bare Korean History” returns for Season 3, exploring world history from multiple perspectives. Expanding its focus beyond the Korean Peninsula to East Asia, the new season takes on history with a broader scope. tvN 20th Anniversary Special: ‘100 Days of Deception’ Starring: Kim You-jung, Park Jin-young, Kim Hyun-joo, Lee Mu-saeng and Jin Sun-kyu tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “100 Days of Deception,” a special production marking the network’s 20th anniversary, premieres on October 10. The series follows a woman who was once the top pickpocket of Gyeongseong — the colonial-era name for Seoul — before becoming a secret agent and an elite interpreter for the Japanese Government-General of Korea. The two leads meet at the heart of enemy territory in an espionage romance that unfolds over 100 days. The teaser shows tension mounting as Lee Ga-kyung (Kim You-jung) and Kim Tae-woong (Park Jin-young) grow increasingly suspicious of each other. “A pickpocket, a burglar and now an interpreter trainee at the Government-General,” Tae-woong says, highlighting the charged dynamic between them. Meanwhile, Sato Shinichi remains on guard, telling Tae-woong, “Make sure that girl comes to rely on you and trust you,” while Yoo So-ran gives Ga-kyung a new mission: “Win Sato Hideo’s heart.” Near the end of the teaser, Ga-kyung suddenly confesses, “I like you. I have since the first time we met.” She is then seen secretly crossing her fingers behind her back, raising curiosity about how their relationship will evolve amid the conflict between their feelings for each other and their respective missions. A Close-Quarters Thriller Romance: ‘Love in Disguise’ Starring: Yim Si-wan, Seol In-ah, Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo “Love in Disguise,” a close-quarters thriller romance between a third-generation chaebol heir suspected of murder and a detective who goes undercover as his male personal secretary to catch him, is gearing up for its premiere. Yim Si-wan stars as the arrogant third-generation chaebol heir Yoon Yi-jun, while Seol In-ah takes on the role of Kang Jae-hee, a former special forces detective, bringing an unconventional romance that shifts between suspense and romantic sparks. The released teaser captures the palpable, dangerous tension between the two. Amid an ominous atmosphere heralded by the sound of thunder, Jae-hee declares, “There’s already enough evidence,” and cuffs Yi-jun’s wrist without hesitation. But Yi-jun turns the tables, saying, “You’re the one who committed the crime —” as he cuffs Jae-hee’s other wrist — “the crime of making my heart race.” The dramatic line adds to the intriguing, charged atmosphere between the two leads. Filled with deception on both sides, the pair’s unpredictable romance in “Love in Disguise” begins on tvN on October 19. The film is attracting attention for the transformation of Kim Hyun-joo, who reunites with director Yeon Sang-ho following their collaboration in the “Hellbound” series and “JUNG_E.” This time, she plays Ryu So-young, a mother torn between an AI version of her son that looks exactly as he did in childhood and the son who has returned to the real world nine years later, revealing a different side of herself in the role. What is the mystery surrounding her son’s return, and what truth lies hidden behind it? As director Yeon Sang-ho’s latest film heads to theaters this fall, all eyes are turning to what story “Paradise Lost” will tell.
