CJ Group pledges 500 million KRW to support wildfire recovery in impacted areas, with additional aid from CJ CheilJedang, CJ Foodville and CJ Olive Young CJ Group logo On March 26, CJ Group announced a donation of 500 million KRW (approximately 341,000 USD) to support wildfire relief efforts in Gyeongsang-do and Ulsan, regions severely impacted by recent forest fires in the East coast of Korea.  The wildfires, which began in mid-March and have since spread rapidly, caused extensive damage across the country, particularly in the Gyeongsang and Ulsan areas. A state of emergency has been declared in several regions, displacing thousands of residents and placing enormous strain on emergency response teams. In response to this crisis, the donation will be delivered through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and allocated to support victims and emergency responders in areas that have declared a state of emergency, including Sancheong (Gyeongnam), Ulju (Ulsan), Uiseong (North Gyeongsang) and Hadong (South Gyeongsang). A CJ representative stated, “We hope this donation offers meaningful support to the firefighters and volunteers working tirelessly on the front lines, as well as to the residents displaced by these unexpected and devastating wildfires.” CJ Group affiliates have also provided direct aid by supplying emergency goods and mobilizing employee volunteer teams. CJ CheilJedang has donated a total of 10,000 relief items, including Hetbahn, bibigo soup-based home meal replacements (HMR), and snacks such as Matbam (roasted chestnuts). CJ Foodville also contributed an emergency supply of 10,000 pieces of bread and beverages from its TOUS les JOURS bakery chain to affected areas. In addition, CJ Olive Young has donated gift certificates worth KRW 100 million (approximately 68,000 USD) to support impacted communities. CJ Group will continue to monitor the situation closely and explore additional ways to support recovery efforts as they evolve.
