Employees Choose Their Own Office With CJ WORK ON
CJ WORK ON is CJ’s new corporate culture program that allows employees to work in different offices by choosing their desk, date and preferred office location among satellite offices in Ilsan, Dongdaemun, Seoul Station and Yongsan.
To get a closer look at this program, CJ Newsroom spent a day with Bonkyu Gu of CJ CheilJedang’s Seoul SU Gyeonggi Book Retail Team, an employee taking full advantage of CJ WORK ON.
Travel Time DOWN, Productivity UP
Q: What differences have you experienced since CJ WORK ON was introduced?
Gu: I currently oversee the B2C retail route of the Seoul sales headquarters (HQ) as well as sales management of CJ CheilJedang products that are distributed to large discount stores, wholesale malls and similar retailers. Because I am in charge of stores in the Ilsan/Paju region, I normally have to go to Ilsan two to three times a week. Due to this, there are occasions where I lose office hours because of travel time. However, with CJ WORK ON, I can work at a nearby office whenever I need to visit a client in the area. This flexibility has enhanced my work efficiency and saved me a lot of time. For example, now it only takes 15 minutes to drive from the CJ WORK ON Ilsan office to Ilsan Costco. Without CJ WORK ON, the trip from CJ CheilJedang’s HQ would’ve taken at least 50 minutes.
Moreover, in the past we had to use screenshots on smartphones or pictures for meetings since it was challenging to print out urgent documents outside of the office. Now that I have access to multiple office locations, it is easier to prepare documents and handle urgent tasks.
Q: What is the CJ WORK ON office environment like?
Gu: If I had to give a score, I’d give it a 200 out of 10. Besides individual workspaces, there are also meeting rooms and private call rooms to suit employee needs. In addition, there is a lounge right next to the office area where you can take in the city view and enjoy a wide variety of coffee. CJ WORK ON plays a big role in boosting efficiency by saving time, cost and improving productivity.
Q: How are other colleagues using CJ WORK ON?
Gu: Since our clients are near Ilsan and Paju, we often hold our team meetings in the Ilsan CJ WORK ON office instead of the CJ CheilJedang HQ. Before, we had to hold our team meetings in the morning because we usually had client meetings scheduled outside of the office in the afternoon. Now, we are able to focus on our priorities and then meet our clients in the afternoon without stressing over lost time. This has had a positive impact and allowed my colleagues.
