THE CJ CUP sponsor brings authentic Korean flavors to the recent PGA TOUR with menu offerings including bibigo MANDU and GOTCHU fried rice THE CJ CUP in South Carolina (hereafter THE CJ CUP), the PGA TOUR tournament held at the Congaree Golf Club from October 20-23, has successfully come to an end with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy winning the title. CJ CheilJedang’s bibigo, an official sponsor of THE CJ CUP, operated ‘Player’s Dining bibigo Kitchen’, a bibigo concession stand at the event, offering players a taste of various Korean dishes ranging from bulgogi to fried chicken, MANDU (Korean dumplings) and more. Officials and gallery members enjoyed similar offerings from ‘bibigo Korean Kitchen’ including MANDU, fried rice and chicken gangjeong – popcorn-style fried chicken glazed in a sweet and savory sauce. Korean cuisine brand, bibigo, was launched by CJ in 2011. It began to reach the global ready meals market in 2012 with its popular MANDU products, and has since grown into a mega brand, recording an annual global sales amount of 3 trillion KRW (about $2.1 billion) just 10 years after its launch. This year, THE CJ CUP moved to South Carolina’s Congaree Golf Club and featured local participation with Governor Henry McMaster participating in the awards ceremony. The new tournament location also strengthened THE CJ CUP’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, partnering with the Congaree Foundation and the state government to support the goals and dreams of young people locally. Students sponsored by the foundation along with rising golf stars were invited to attend the Bridge Kids program hosted by Kim Si-Woo and Tommy Fleetwood. Event prizes were donated to the Congaree Foundation by TEAM CJ members Im Sung-Jae, Lee Kyoung-Hoon, Bae Yong-Jun and Kim Min-Kyu. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to support the dreams of local students through THE CJ CUP,” said Bruce Davidson, the Executive Program Director at Congaree Foundation and a world-renowned PGA professional. “The South Carolina state government expects THE CJ CUP to boost the local economy.” “bibigo is happy to deliver a special cultural experience to consumers around the world through THE CJ CUP,” said an official from CJ CheilJedang. “bibigo will continue to reach consumers via sports sponsorships including the NBA’s LA Lakers. We look forward to the upcoming basketball season which has recently begun.”
