Customer trying out the Olive Young Skin Scan Pro” service CJ Olive Young announced plans to expand the installation of self-operated skin analyzer machines to approximately 100 stores in major cities across Korea by the end of this year. The initiative aims to elevate the in-store experience by integrating advanced skin analysis technology with big data, enabling personalized product recommendations and enhanced beauty services—all free of charge. With this service, customers can measure their scalp and skin condition to receive customized skincare guidance based on concerns such as hydration and sensitivity. Store staff also provide tailored product recommendations using “SELLY,” Olive Young’s exclusive customer counseling app, which suggests items optimized for each individual’s skin type, texture preferences, and ingredient needs. This expansion reflects CJ Olive Young’s strategic response to growing demand for personalized shopping experiences among its core Gen Z and Millennial customer base. The Korean retail landscape is evolving from purpose-driven shopping centered on search to discovery-driven shopping, where customers explore and experience products in-store before making a purchase. The flagship store, Olive Young N Seongsu, has become a signature destination for immersive K-beauty experiences since its opening last year. The “Skin Scan Pro” service, which provides in-depth scalp and skin analysis, has shown significant impact—customers who used the service had a 78% purchase conversion rate, notably higher than the 43% rate among non-users.
