According to a recent survey conducted by a Korean HR company, CJ ranked as the second most preferred company among Korean university students, with CJ Olive Young emerging as the top choice among its subsidiaries. The primary reason cited by respondents for choosing CJ Group was its “excellent employee benefits” (19.4%).
The survey aimed to analyze how major companies are perceived by Korean university students and to assess their preferences in the job market. The companies included in the survey were selected from the top 20 business groups designated as public disclosure targets by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) in 2024.
Among the 20 selected corporations, Samsung topped the list with 16.8% of the votes, followed by CJ at 11.7%, Hyundai Motor Group at 10.9% and SK Group at 10.3%. Within CJ, Korea’s largest beauty and wellness retailer, CJ Olive Young, emerged as the most preferred subsidiary, garnering 41.8% of the votes. CJ Group owns a diverse range of lifestyle subsidiaries, including Olive Young, as well as companies in the food, logistics, and retail sectors.
A representative from the survey organization commented, “This year, there was a stronger trend of selecting companies based on their ‘satisfactory salary and compensation systems.’ This preference extended to subsidiaries as well, with firms known for providing solid compensation ranking higher in popularity.”
A CJ Olive Young spokesperson stated, “An increasing number of young professionals are beginning their careers at Olive Young. The company’s innovative growth as a leader in the K-beauty industry, which was recently recognized by Harvard Business School as a case study, has likely resonated with university students.”
