Mnet Plus gains popularity with global Gen Z and Gen Alpha K-pop lovers through its ‘fanteractive’ offerings

Marking its 30th anniversary in the cultural business, CJ ENM has unveiled a new growth vision for the worldwide K-pop industry through its global content platform Mnet Plus.
Positioning Mnet Plus as a core hub that seamlessly connects content, fandom and business, CJ ENM announced its ambition to evolve the platform into an all-in-one “fanteractive” (fan + interactive) platform designed for the global Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations.
Under the theme “Capturing the Gen Zalpha Generation: Mnet Plus Rises as a Global Platform,” CJ ENM hosted a CULTURE TALK event on October 28 at its Sangam-dong headquarters in Seoul, where the company shared its vision and key achievements.

Surpassing 40 Million Subscribers — Emerging as a Global K-pop Content Hub
Building on CJ ENM’s three decades of expertise in music production and platform operations, Mnet Plus has grown rapidly as a global K-pop content hub. In just three years since its launch, the platform has surpassed 40 million app users, including 20 million monthly active users (MAU) and 7.62 million daily active users (DAU). Notably, about 80% of total traffic comes from overseas users, signaling growing popularity among the global Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations.
“SUMBAKKOKJIL,” “The City of Spy: NCT 127” and other original variety shows, along with Mnet broadcast shows, concerts, KCON and the MAMA AWARDS, are all available for streaming and on-demand viewing through Mnet Plus, which has built an expansive library and solidified its position as a global K-pop hub. The platform has also advanced its fanteractive features — including voting, fan support, live streaming and real-time “TALK” — to heighten user engagement. As a result, total views this year have exceeded 130 million, and during the live finale of “Boys II Planet,” engagement peaked at more than 70,000 votes per second, demonstrating the passionate participation of its global fandom.

From ‘Viewing’ to ‘Experiencing’ — a Platform for Everything K-pop
CJ ENM plans to further evolve Mnet Plus into an all-in-one fanteractive platform in which viewing, participation and consumption take place seamlessly in one space. The goal is to create an environment in which casual fans can grow into dedicated supporters, and core fandoms can enjoy a deeper, more immersive K-pop experience.
“Beyond simply watching K-pop content, we want K-pop lovers to discover the value of a true ‘experience platform’ — one that allows fans to directly participate and fully immerse themselves in the world of K-pop,” stated Kim Jiwon, Senior Vice President of Mnet Plus.

Going forward, Mnet Plus plans to strengthen its platform competitiveness through three key pillars: expanding a diverse lineup of original K-pop content, enhancing global streaming services and reinforcing the fandom value chain. To broaden fan choices, the platform will also introduce an ad-supported free viewing model to ensure accessibility for all users, while deepening engagement through premium content offerings — ultimately building a positive cycle that connects fans, artists and brands.
“In the K-pop industry, platforms are the core drivers of growth. What matters now is the kind of value and experience they deliver,” emphasized Cha Woojin, founder of Enter Culture Lab. “Platforms must go beyond deepening fandoms — they should also expand the breadth of K-pop culture enjoyed by fans worldwide.”
