The signing ceremony was held at the hospital’s HBIC Smart Work Center on April 7. Korea University Guro Hospital is an “institution managing HBIC” selected by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare. As such, it engages in projects fostering and supporting startups in the public health field by conducting joint research with companies. CJ OliveNetworks plans to pursue new business in the digital wellness and health care field by cooperating and holding joint research with the academe, research centers, and hospitals. The company also plans to develop business models in the same field based on artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and other new DT technologies, while Korea University Guro Hospital will form a body of experts to provide consulting on clinical testing and medical verification. In addition, both institutions agreed to discover startups and develop business models to participate in government projects and engage in strategic open innovation businesses. “As customers’ interest in health grows and the digital senior generation emerges, the demand for health data and digital health devices continues to increase … We will discover differentiated medical and wellness services by building a cooperative model that connects hospitals with companies, the government, and universities,” said CJ OliveNetworks CEO Cha In-hyok. “By agreeing to collaborate with CJ OliveNetworks, we will provide a high-quality open innovation environment and actively help prepare the base for Korean startups,” said Korea University Guro Hospital’s HBIC Director Song Hae-ryong.
