Global Entertainment Leaders Convene to Shape the Future of K-Culture CJ Group and Universal Music Group leaders meet at KCON LA 2026 in Los Angeles on August 16. CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun and Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee met with Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group (UMG), at KCON to chart the future trajectory of K-culture and the global entertainment landscape. The three leaders met on August 16 at KCON LA 2026, discussing the transformation of the global music and content markets, as well as the expansion potential of K-pop and broader K-culture. Since the 1990s, Chairman Lee Jay-hyun has championed culture as a core future growth engine, continuously investing in the content industry and driving the vision of “transforming the daily lives of people worldwide through culture.” Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee has been a pivotal figure in leading the global expansion of K-content across film, music and broadcasting, leveraging her extensive network across the global cultural and entertainment industries. In particular, KCON, launched by CJ in 2012, has grown into a global K-culture platform showcasing diverse aspects of Korean lifestyle, centered around K-pop, including beauty, food and content. This meeting is considered a symbolic moment where CJ’s 30-year vision for the cultural business and its deep-rooted global network converged at the very heart of KCON. Furthermore, Chairman Grainge’s visit to KCON highlights the heightened global interest and elevated stature of K-culture, extending far beyond K-pop across the broader entertainment industry.
