Leading Korean streaming platform TVING teams up with Disney+ to launch the “TVING Collection” in Japan, marking the first time Disney+ has introduced a local streaming brand collection on its platform in APAC

Korea’s leading content hub, TVING, is joining forces with global entertainment powerhouse Disney to make a bold entry into Japan, one of the world’s top three markets for premium content
On November 5, TVING officially launched the TVING Collection on Disney+ in Japan through a strategic partnership with the global streaming platform. This marks the first time Disney+ has introduced a local streaming brand collection on its platform in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the growing global influence of K-content and the rising potential of Korean streaming services.

As one of the world’s most dynamic streaming markets, Japan presents a prime opportunity for TVING to expand its global presence through a strategic partnership with Disney+, a platform that has earned strong trust and loyalty among local audiences. By joining forces, the two companies have combined Disney’s globally recognized brand and platform with TVING’s leadership in K-content to offer richer viewing experiences. This partnership marks a significant step in TVING’s journey to bring Korean storytelling to a broader global audience, while opening the door to future strategic initiatives between the two companies.

The “TVING Collection,” which debuted on Disney+ Japan on November 5, now serves as the official hub where Japanese viewers can easily access TVING’s original content. From TVING originals to CJ ENM’s biggest hits, an impressive lineup will be released sequentially. As TVING expands its global presence, this move is expected to further accelerate the international reach of Korean creators and production companies.
To mark its global expansion, TVING premiered its original series “Dear X” and achieved remarkable success following its international debut. Released exclusively on Disney+ in Japan on November 6, the series quickly climbed to third place in the platform’s viewership rankings. Launched across multiple Asia-Pacific regions through HBO Max, “Dear X” topped the HBO Max TV show category in seven key markets — including Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines and Taiwan — according to global streaming ranking platform FlixPatrol. The series also ranked third on the U.S. streaming platform Viki, solidifying its status as a breakout global hit.
TVING CEO Julie Choi said, “Our partnership with Disney, a company with an influential presence and long-standing history in Japan, presents the most effective opportunity to introduce TVING’s content to local audiences. We will continue to showcase captivating K-content to more global viewers, striving to evolve from Korea’s No. 1 streaming platform into a leading global K-streaming brand.”

Tamotsu Hiiro, President of The Walt Disney Company Japan, said, “As Disney+ marks its fifth anniversary in Japan, we continue to expand our content lineup to reflect the diverse tastes of our viewers. Our collaboration with CJ ENM and TVING is a significant milestone in that journey. By combining the appeal of Korean storytelling with Disney+’s global blockbusters and popular local titles, we aim to deliver a richer and more immersive viewing experience for audiences of all generations.”
Meanwhile, TVING has designated 2025 as the first year of its full-scale global expansion. Beginning with Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, the company plans to broaden its reach into markets across the U.S. and beyond through a variety of strategic initiatives.
