tvN’s “Law and the City” was met with wide commercial success in Asia, prompting an outdoor screening event for the finale episode, attended by stars Lee Jong-suk and Mun Ka-young

tvN’s weekend drama “Law and the City” wrapped up on August 10 with its highest ratings to date. The series, which follows the tight-knit friendships and workplace struggles of five junior lawyers, captured viewers’ attention from its very first episode. Featuring a star-studded cast including Lee Jong-suk and Mun Ka-young, the drama drew strong global interest from the start.
In the show’s premiere week, it ranked in the top 5 across 150 countries, and audience engagement continued to rise with each new episode. It also consistently held the No. 1 spot in its timeslot across countries where tvN Asia is available, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. It marked the channel’s strongest performance among all tvN dramas aired in 2025.

Riding that momentum, CJ ENM’s Hong Kong branch, operator of tvN Asia, organized a Malaysia Star Tour and coordinated a live finale screening with fans. The event aligned with the finale airing on August 10 and was planned jointly with CJ ENM’s headquarters.
Two of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic venues anchored the day: Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, which hosted the outdoor program with a massive LED display, and DADI Cinema, which held the invite-only screening.

On August 9, the Malaysian airport was packed with fans eager to welcome actors Lee Jong-suk and Mun Ka-young. Crowds filled the terminal, chanting the stars’ names and the title “Law and the City.”

On August 10, crowds formed around Pavilion’s barricades despite rain as early as 7 a.m. The heartfelt dedication of the fans once again underscored the immense popularity of the K-drama. The weather cleared just in time, and at 7:30 p.m. local time the pre-show event kicked off.

More than 20,000 fans gathered as Mun Ka-young and Lee Jong-suk walked the red carpet — cheers of the drama’s title echoing through the plaza. The fans spanned every generation, from young children to the elderly. Among them was a 77-year-old who had flown in from Boston just for the chance to see the cast in person. Despite the rainy weather, the sight of fans — men and women alike — beaming with joy was a vivid reminder of the drama’s global popularity and the influence of CJ ENM’s productions.

The actors themselves seemed astonished by the sheer size of the crowd. They fully embraced the moment, taking selfies and signing autographs with fans in a relaxed, friendly manner. Once on the main stage, the two stars expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Malaysian fans for the enthusiastic welcome, adding that “Law and the City” would remain a deeply meaningful project for them as well.

At DADI Cinema, as the finale episode unfolded, 260 lucky fans laughed and cried together in step despite language and cultural differences. Watching fans share the same emotions despite differences in language and culture was a powerful reminder of the far-reaching influence of K-culture. “I was truly happy to be able to watch such a wonderful drama,” one fan said after the screening.
The next day’s press conference drew around 50 media outlets, including The Star, Sin Chew Daily, Utusan, and global media. “K-drama fever swept through Pavilion Kuala Lumpur as thousands flocked to see ‘Law and the City’ stars Lee Jong-suk and Mun Ka-young at the series finale fan screening,” reported the long-established local outlet Malay Mail.

The tour closed smoothly in partnership with the tvN Asia team, underscoring the “one team” effort between CJ ENM headquarters and overseas branches. CJ ENM remains committed to doing the utmost to ensure that its content continues to lead the way in shaping global mainstream culture.
