Drawing from nearly a century of expertise, CJ Logistics has grown from a domestic warehousing company into a global modern integrated logistics powerhouse
CJ Logistics marks its 95th anniversary this year — a remarkable milestone in the history of Korean industry. Founded on November 15, 1930, the company has led the development and innovation of Korea’s logistics sector for nearly a century, driving efficiency, connectivity, and global competitiveness.

With a heritage built on reliability and progress, CJ Logistics stands as one of the world’s oldest logistics brands, established decades before major global players such as DHL (1969) and FedEx (1971). Over nine decades, it has evolved from a domestic warehousing firm into an international logistics powerhouse, shaping how goods move within and beyond Korea.
In celebration of its 95th anniversary, CJ Logistics reflects on its legacy of innovation and growth — reinforcing its role as a pioneer of modern integrated logistics and reaffirming its commitment to advancing international supply chain excellence as it looks to the next century.

Major Milestones Across a Century
The story of CJ Logistics began in 1930, when it was founded as Chosun Rice Warehousing in the heart of Seoul. In an era when industrial infrastructure was scarce, the company played a key role in establishing Korea’s first modern warehousing systems.
In 1963, the firm adopted a new name, Korea Express, after merging with Korea Transportation, and expanded into comprehensive logistics services. Through the 1970s, Korea Express diversified into air, sea and rail transportation, directly supporting the country’s rapid industrialization and export-driven growth. This is also when the company first expanded overseas, opened a Tokyo branch in 1972, and started an affiliate company in the U.S in 1974. Moreover, it expanded branches by opening in New Jersey and Los Angeles in 1976.
During the 1990s, the company introduced parcel delivery services, marking the dawn of technology-driven logistics solutions with the establishment of CJ GLS in 1997. The company also opened another branch in San Francisco in 1984, demonstrating its growing foothold in the U.S. market. The firm’s expertise soon positioned it as a trusted partner for major global events, including the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, where it managed complex, large-scale logistics operations with expertise.
A turning point came in 2013, when CJ Korea Express merged with CJ GLS, forming CJ Logistics, Korea’s first fully integrated logistics company. The merger unified decades of expertise with cutting-edge innovation, enabling the company to deliver end-to-end supply chain services under one global brand.
Throughout the twenty-first century, CJ Logistics has rapidly expanded its international presence, investing heavily in automation, digitalization, and R&D. With 95 years of experience, the company continues building on its legacy — transforming from a pioneer of the Korean logistics industry, and leaping forward as a global SCM solution company.

Innovation and Advanced Technology at the Forefront
Over the past decade, CJ Logistics has undergone a profound transformation — evolving from Korea’s leading logistics provider into a global industry pioneer powered by top-of-the-line technology and decades of expertise. The company’s competitive edge lies in its ability to integrate every stage of the logistics value chain through advanced digital platforms and operational excellence.
CJ Logistics provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions that encompass warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, forwarding, and parcel services.
