CJ LiveCity, a subsidiary of CJ ENM, signed a trilateral MOU with AEG and Goyang-si on November 30 in Osaka, Japan. CJ LiveCity, the world’s first Live K-Content Experience Districts, spans an area of 326,400m2 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. Its anticipated grand opening will feature the arena, alongside mixed-use cultural facilities offering experiences in various content, including K-Pop, films, TV series, and entertainment shows. In October 2021, it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the CJ LiveCity Arena, which will serve as Korea’s representative arena. The MOU is intended to strengthen cooperation among the three parties to assist Goyang-si’s efforts to be designated as a Korean Free Economic Zone. Goyang-si is located north of the Seoul metropolitan area, where CJ LiveCity will be located. It will be wide open for global visitors as they can reach within 40 minutes from Incheon International Airport. When the GTX-A line (Great Train Express in the Seoul metropolitan area) opens in 2024, it will become even more accessible- within 20 minutes from the central districts of Seoul. To bolster the local economy and promote self-sufficiency, CJ LiveCity has rekindled its collaboration with AEG, a global leader in sports and live entertainment. Together, they will establish a branch office for their joint venture in Goyang-si. Upon completion of the CJ LiveCity Arena, AEG will assume operational responsibilities alongside CJ LiveCity and organize concerts featuring global artists at the venue. CJ LiveCity, AEG, and the mayor of Goyang-si visited Kyocera Dome Osaka to attend the 2022 MAMA Awards, the world’s No.1 K-Pop awards. During the event, they shared their expectations for the CJ LiveCity Arena, envisioned as the ultimate destination for K-Pop fandoms. Mayor Lee also pledged full support for CJ LiveCity’s successful opening.
