CJ Foods launches bibigo Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken in the U.S., Japan, and Europe, driving global demand for next-generation K-food
CJ Foods’ “Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken,” which revolutionized the Korean frozen chicken market, has officially begun its global expansion.
CJ Foods has launched its “bibigo Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken” in the U.S. and Japan, aiming to lead the global expansion of precooked chicken and establish it as the next-generation K-food, following dumplings.
“bibigo Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken,” now produced globally at local facilities, began selling at Costco in the U.S. in early November. In Japan, it has successfully launched across all Costco branches.
In December, CJ Foods will introduce” bibigo Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken” to Europe, beginning with Asian channels in the U.K., France, and Germany. The company plans to gradually expand its distribution channels and reach more countries in the future.
The product rollout begins with the Soy Sauce and Honey flavor, characterized by its balanced combination of sweet and savory, made with a special soy sauce blended with honey to appeal to consumers of all ages. CJ Foods has maintained the crispiness even when coated with sauce while refining the flavor to suit regional preferences. The sauce and seasoning levels have been enhanced for the European and Japanese markets to deliver a bolder flavor that caters to local tastes.
CJ Foods believes that the “restaurant-quality taste” and “unique crispiness” that made the “Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken” series a success in the Korean market will also resonate with consumers overseas. Unlike most mainstream Asian frozen chicken products, which require separate sauce mixing or become soggy due to being pre-coated with sauce, “bibigo Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken” retains its crunchiness while being quick and easy to prepare. Additionally, its bite-sized pieces add to the convenience.
“Sobaba Crunchy Glazed Chicken” delivers the crispiness of freshly fried chicken from specialty restaurants, thanks to CJ Foods’ proprietary “sauce coating” technology. Since the launch of its first product, Soy Sauce and Honey, in April 2022, the company has achieved accumulated sales of nearly 120 billion KRW (92 million USD) as of the third week of November.
