Leading entertainment company CJ ENM marked another milestone as it hosted the world’s largest K-POP Fan & Artist Festival, KCON JAPAN 2024, at ‘Makuhari Messe’ and ‘ZOZOMARINE STADIUM’ in Japan from May 10 to 12, attracting a record-breaking crowd of 140,000 attendees over three days, the largest in its history. Following its success in Hong Kong, KCON JAPAN 2024, the second KCON of this year, ended in great success with even more festival-like elements. KCON JAPAN 2024, which featured a multi-stage setup with a more variety of lineup, allowed fans to freely experience artist performances across six stages, creating interactions between fans and artists in various aspects and providing a differentiated experience. Over the past three days, 44 teams of artists, the largest number ever, delivered around 100 performances, and the audience was enthralled by the festival-style lineup. KCON, which is drawing attention as K-POP ‘Coachella’, has become a major festival that brings together K-Pop fans and artists from around the world. At the Makuhari Messe, 278 booths from 104 companies covering everything from K-POP to food, lifestyle, beauty, and fashion met the audience from 10 AM to 9 PM every day, three hours longer than last year. The venue was also expanded to ZOZOMARINE STADIUM this year, making the largest KCON ever held in Japan. KCON JAPAN 2024, entering the ZOZOMARINE STADIUM for the first time, presented a differentiated spectacle as a global K-POP festival comparable to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the largest music festival in the U.S. There was also an unusual scene where the parade car circled the stadium bringing artists and fans closer together. KCON JAPAN 2024 finally ended with the enthusiastic energy of the audience filling the stadium amidst dazzling fireworks. Harry H.K. Shin, Head of Music Entertainment at CJ ENM, said, “We showcased a large-scale festival by hosting it at a stadium for the first time in Japan, the second-largest global music market. We will continue to grow as the leading K-POP festival to support artists’ global expansion and the growth of the K-POP industry.” Since its inception in 2012 in the United States, CJ ENM’s KCON has been held in various regions worldwide, presenting a festival model that encompasses all aspects of culture, centered on music content, playing a pioneering role in spreading K-culture. KCON will continue its journey with the upcoming ‘KCON LA 2024’ in July following Hong Kong in March and Japan in May.
