About the Film: Korean Occult Thriller
“The House” is a Korean occult thriller produced with AI technology, following the story of ‘Yumi,’ a protagonist capable of seeing the souls of the deceased, as she encounters eerie and chilling events in her new apartment. Throughout its 60-minute runtime, the film demonstrates the visual consistency of hybrid production by seamlessly integrating AI technology with live-action performances. By visualizing the genre’s uniquely mysterious atmosphere through AI, it offers viewers an overwhelming sense of immersion and a distinctively sensory horror experience that transcends existing AI-generated content.
Production Innovation: Hybrid Integration of AI and Live-Action
The defining feature of this project is that all performances were filmed indoors without any location changes, with all backgrounds and visual effects subsequently generated through AI. This approach ensures that the actors’ nuanced emotional performances are preserved 100%, while simultaneously maximizing production efficiency by replacing costly, large-scale special effects with AI-driven solutions.
Jeong Chang-ik, Head of AI Studio at CJ ENM, who oversaw the production, stated, “We have expanded the production paradigm by filming live-action performances in a green screen environment and realizing all backgrounds and visual effects through AI.” He added, “Through this new approach—where every scene was shot indoors without any location changes—we were able to significantly enhance efficiency and offer both the cast and crew a uniquely differentiated creative experience compared to traditional methods.”
Global Tech Collaboration: Implementation of Google AI Solutions
Notably, AI technology was applied to every scene except for the live-action performances, with Google Cloud’s latest engines used to achieve photorealistic visual consistency and high-level production quality.

Furthermore, in September 2025, CJ ENM was invited to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025 as a leading global AI content company to share its production insights.
- Dominating Global Film Festivals: The AI short film “M Hotel” won the Best Winner honors at both the Cannes World Film Festival and the AMT International Film Festival(AI Competition Section) in New York. It also received the Special Jury Award at the Busan International AI Film Festival (BIAIF) and was selected as one of the Top 10 Finalists at the ‘AI Film Awards Venice’. Simultaneously, the 3D AI animation “Golden Egg” solidified the prestige of K-AI by winning at the New York International Film Awards and other major ceremonies.
- Process Innovation and Technical Excellence: Leveraging its proprietary ‘Cinematic AI’ system, the production of “Cat Biggie”—including planning and character development—was completed by a team of just six people in only five months. This demonstrates a drastic leap in production speed compared to traditional methods. Notably, the project overcame the common AI limitation of ‘maintaining consistency’ by converting characters into 3D data, ensuring visual stability across the entire series.
Expanding the Industry Ecosystem and Leadership: The Inaugural Pilot Case of the ‘AI Content Alliance’
The project is highly regarded for successfully implementing a collaborative model between AI production and technology firms to expand the industry ecosystem. Key members of the ‘AI Content Alliance’ (launched in February 2026), including THEHAN FILM and SOLTMAKER, co-participated in the production, significantly elevating the technical quality and sophistication of the work.
“To secure K-AI’s competitiveness in the rapidly evolving global market, we are dedicated to building a field-oriented ecosystem based on public-private-academic cooperation,” said Baek Hyun-jung, Head of Content Innovation at CJ ENM. “The project is a key part of these efforts, serving as an innovative case that validates the powerful synergy between content and AI technology.”
“We are expanding the application of AI beyond content creation into the advertising sector—an area that has been challenging to advance—to secure new growth engines,” Baek added. “By leveraging solutions such as Virtual Product Placement (VPP) and AI-driven targeting, we will continue to lead next-generation Ad-tech innovations that not only enhance production efficiency but also enable sophisticated and flexible advertising execution.”
