CGV launches cutting-edge theater, expanding its global footprint and captivating audiences
CGV is drawing significant interest from the global film market with its new premium theaters, featuring cutting-edge screen technology and top-tier services.
CGV’s state-of-the-art theaters, “SCREENX 1” and “SCREENX Gold 1”, which opened in November at the CGV Grand Indonesia theater in Jakarta, have received enthusiastic responses from local audiences.
The new premium theaters elevate the three core elements of the movie-going experience— screen, sound, and seating. Equipped with SCREENX PLF (Premium Large Format), Dolby Atmos, and Gold Class seats, the theaters offer a next generation viewing environment. During the first week of opening, the theaters recorded an average occupancy rate of 60%, with Gold Class seats achieving a 90% occupancy, reflecting its strong appeal to audiences.
The newly introduced theater boasts a world-class 20-meter-plus front screen, with two additional screens on the left and right, offering an impressive 270-degree viewing experience. Dolby Atmos further enhances immersion with surround sound. The movie theater also boasts the world’s second-largest seating capacity, with 460 seats across two floors. Theatergoers can enjoy films in comfort with the premium Gold Class seats, first introduced in SCREENX.
Audience members who visited the theater shared positive reviews, including comments like, “I wish they would open theaters in other cities in Indonesia so I could enjoy this kind of service,” “The screen and sound are incredible! When I watched Wicked, it felt like I was inside the movie,” and “I can’t wait to see a K-pop performance movie at a SCREENX theater soon.”
December brings further excitement with the release of several highly anticipated films, including “Mufasa: The Lion King,” “Kraven the Hunter,” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” CJ 4DPLEX CEO Bang Jun-sik said, “We are thrilled to introduce our state-of-the-art theater in Indonesia, where there is strong interest in the latest cinematic experiences.” He added, “We will continue to strive to provide a next-level immersion to global audiences, supported by the best technology and services.”
