OT refers to software optimized for monitoring, control, and forecasting of on-site equipment, while standard software is optimized for business operations. The company plans to expand its business from solution-based to OT and hardware to gain a competitive advantage in the smart factory business. CJ OliveNetworks signed a strategic alliance agreement with Siemens on Sept. 2 at the Siemens Korea’s headquarters in Chungjeong-ro, Seoul. Cha In-hyeok, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks, and Thomas Schmid, CEO of Siemens Korea Digital Industries, attended the signing ceremony. Under this agreement, CJ OliveNetworks will be responsible for building a smart factory, managing and operating equipment and building a business inventory. Siemens will supply PLC (equipment controller) and SCADA (remote monitoring control) products with know-how. It will also provide OT and hardware technology training for executives and employees of CJ OliveNetworks’s Smart Factory division.  The two companies also plan to work together in designing and building a smart factory, sales expansion, marketing, and technical support using online and offline channels. “We want to create a total service platform for smart factory by bringing in OT and hardware capabilities to our solution-focused business to increase our business competitiveness,” said Cha In-hyeok, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks. “Through this partnership, we will be able to expand our business to new fields in Industry 4.0, such as IoT and AI-based equipment forecasting and preservation and factory energy management systems.” “As a leader in digitalization, we will help CJ OliveNetworks to enhance its competitiveness by sharing our technological know-how for building a successful smart factory. As a partner to many companies in Korea, we have assisted them in their digital transformation journey. We will keep working to drive growth in the domestic smart factory ecosystem with our industry-leading technologies and diverse digital portfolio,” said Thomas Schmid, CEO of Siemens Korea Digital Industries.
