Smart refrigerator that recommends personalized recipes CJ OliveNetworks showcased “Recipick,” a personalized food and recipe recommendation AI technology that connects refrigerators with its users, in collaboration with LG Electronics. This technology analyzes and combines food inside a refrigerator and accumulated user data to recommend recipes that suit the user’s lifestyle. In particular, CJ OliveNetworks and LG Electronics linked the products and recipe data of CJ CheilJedang, the largest food production company in Korea, with the smart refrigerators of LG Electronics and verified the technology that provides personalized lifestyle content through interactions between users and home appliances.  For this project, the DT Convergence Research Center at CJ OliveNetworks has been collaborating with the LG AI Research Institute, which focuses on smart devices and data-based product and service convergence. In the collaboration, CJ OliveNetworks integrated CJ CheilJedang’s data on various recipes, ingredients, and food reviews on social media into the AI using Food2Vec technology, which converts data into vectors. In addition, they can receive recipes that suit their lifestyle, as well as other meal recommendations that go with the recipes.  The companies’ codeveloped technology was showcased in the Vision Pack introductory video during the “LG Future Talk” event at CES 2021. Afterward, a recommendation arrives for a bibigo dumpling recipe that reflects the user’s preference.  Recipick will continuously be improved as a tailored food and recipe recommendation service by combining diverse data on customer behavior. “We can strengthen our interactions with customers by merging home appliances and food data using information technology,” said CJ OliveNetworks CEO Cha In-Hyeok. “As we move forward, we aim to improve the quality of life and make customer-oriented technological innovations by merging our data with that of LG,” he added
