CJ Olive Young, South Korea’s leading beauty and health retailer, announced that during the Olive Young Global Mall Sale from March 1 to 7, the order value surged by 107% compared to the same period last year. The increase is attributed to international tourists who, after experiencing K-beauty products at Olive Young stores in Korea, continued their purchases through the Olive Young Global Mall app and website even after returning to their home countries. This promotion not only strengthened the recognition of K-beauty brands but also significantly elevated the awareness of Korean health brands, achieving record-breaking sales. The key achievement is the expansion across various product categories. While sheet masks and sunscreens had traditionally been the most popular items, recent trends show that global customers are now exploring a broader range of products, including probiotics, weight management supplements, hair care items, and toothpaste. In particular, English-speaking customers have demonstrated strong interest in health supplements like probiotics, while Japanese customers have shown significant interest in oral care items. This trend suggests that as global consumers experience the outstanding quality of K-beauty products, they are more inclined to purchase wellness-related items. In fact, during the sale period, the order value for oral care and health supplements grew by 217% and 188%, respectively, significantly surpassing the overall order growth rate of 107%. Additionally, body care products (168%) and hair care products (127%) also saw remarkable growth. Emerging Korean brands are rapidly gaining popularity. Notable examples include Arencia Fresh Green Rice Mochi Cleanser, inspired by Korea’s traditional ‘tteok’ (rice cake), and BIODANCE Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask. These brands, celebrated for their luxurious textures and rare ingredients, secured spots in the Top 15 best-selling products during this sale. The Olive Young Global Mall Sale is a flagship promotional event held four times a year (March, June, September, and December). By offering tailored product selections and promotions for different regions, along with affordable shipping and fast delivery, it has garnered strong word-of-mouth popularity among K-beauty fans worldwide. As of the end of last year, Olive Young Global Mall had 2.46 million global members, establishing itself as a leading online retailer specializing in Korean cosmetics. In addition to the latest K-beauty products, the platform offers a diverse range of over 10,000 products spanning wellness and K-pop merchandise through its app and website.
