The donation underlines CJ Group’s active role in social contribution initiatives and community support programs, both in Korea and overseas
CJ Group made a 2 billion KRW (1.52 million USD) donation to the country’s sole government-sanctioned charity named Community Chest of Korea on December 11, in support of the Hope 2024 Sharing Campaign.
The donation will be allocated toward various initiatives that are primarily aimed at fostering the healthy growth of young adults in straitened circumstances. These involve cultural, educational and resource-sharing programs such as the Sharing Refrigerator initiative, the food assistance project in collaboration with Seoul City. The program is dedicated to nourishing underprivileged youths and single-person households.
Since 2015, CJ Group has made annual donations of 2 billion KRW to the charity to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem for mutual growth and shared values. It has also implemented various Creating Shared Value (CSV) programs through CJ Donorscamp, a social contribution platform operated by the CJ Welfare Foundation. Most recently, the organization delivered 85 tons of freshly made kimchi to local community service centers and welfare facilities.
