CJ Foods has launched global versions of bibigo GochuJang and SsamJang in Germany, UK, France and Netherlands bibigo GochuJang and SsamJang CJ Foods is introducing new squeezable versions of its bibigo GochuJang and SsamJang sauces in Europe, aiming to enhance local consumers’ experience with Korean flavors. These innovative products are tailored to global tastes, incorporating culinary preferences from outside Korea. In many cultures, fried dishes are commonly paired with ketchup or mustard, while salads and tacos are often topped with dressings or hot sauces. Inspired by these habits, CJ Foods has developed thinner, more versatile versions of GochuJang and SsamJang, perfect for dipping or drizzling, and packaged them in convenient squeezable containers. Leveraging its advanced fermentation technologies, CJ Foods has enriched the deep flavors of ingredients like onions and garlic while reducing saltiness. The new sauces will debut in four countries, Germany, the UK, France and the Netherlands, and will be available in grocery stores including a major supermarket chain and Asian markets. Following this European launch, CJ Foods plans to introduce these products to other markets such as Oceania. “We are thrilled to bring global versions of bibigo GochuJang and SsamJang to consumers worldwide,” said a CJ Foods representative. “Our goal is to expand into diverse markets and share the unique flavors of K-sauces with the world.” In addition to the new sauces, CJ Foods has been expanding its product lineup in mainstream European retail channels. Late last year, the company introduced two flavors of bibigo chicken at Sainsbury’s, the UK’s second-largest supermarket chain. In the Netherlands, CJ Foods recently launched microwavable bibigo dumplings and corn dogs at Albert Heijn, the country’s leading retailer. The dumplings, featuring popular Korean flavors like japchae, are packaged in microwave-friendly trays for easy preparation. Meanwhile, the bibigo corn dogs, making their debut in Dutch mainstream retail, offer local consumers a taste of authentic “K-Street Food.” Europe is a key strategic market for CJ Foods, which has been actively expanding its presence in the region. Since entering the market in 2018 through the acquisition of German frozen food company Mainfrost, CJ Foods has introduced bibigo dumplings, chicken, seaweed, kimchi and sauces to major German supermarket chains such as Edeka, Globus, Tegut and REWE. The company has also extended its distribution to neighboring countries, with products available at Albert Heijn, Jumbo and Hoogvliet in the Netherlands, as well as Delhaize and Carrefour in Belgium. In 2022, CJ Foods established a UK subsidiary and launched bibigo products in major retail channels like Ocado and Sainsbury’s. In May 2024, CJ Foods established a subsidiary in France and officially began operations. Later that year, in November, the company secured a site for its new European K-Food Factory in Dunavarsány, Hungary and initiated the design process. Thanks to these bold expansion efforts, CJ Foods’ European food business revenue surpassed 100 billion KRW (70 million USD) for the first time last year.
